Carrying a firearm for self defense is a HUGE responsibility. There are serous legal repercussions. CCW Colorado believes in giving you the best chance possible of staying alive in a self-defense situation as well as keeping you out of the legal system through gaining knowledge, connecting with resources and by making sure you can hit your target under stress. This course is designed for those who have some shooting experience and want to apply for their Colorado CCW permit or those that have their Colorado CCW and wish to have additional instruction to improve their defensive shooting skills. We provide information on self-defense laws, improve your personal situational awareness and tactics for staying alive if you are attacked. It was developed to allow students to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and understand the responsibility of carrying and using a concealed firearm in self-defense situations. In this course covers the following topics: - Firearm Safety - Ethical Considerations of Carrying and Using a Firearm - Overview of Colorado Law - Holsters, carry positions and Concealment - Situational Awareness / Defender Mindset - Responding to an Attack and the Aftermath This course consists of an interactive classroom lesson as well as dry fire exercises that you can practice at home to improve skills learned in class. Class length varies depending on class size and overall participation but normally last approximately 5 hours. Dress should be comfortable and appropriate for carrying a firearm. Participants should bring their personal, unloaded firearms, a minimum of 2 unloaded magazines, a kydex outside the waistband holster and 2 belt mounted magazine holders. This course exceeds the training requirements to apply for the Colorado CCW permit.
